I get sick of hearing my own voice repeating the same sentences.

I used to think that my kids had bad hearing.  They can rarely hear the first time when I ask them to turn off the tv, stop killing each other, get ready for bed, or to eat their crusts.  They don’t hear me the first time when I ask if their homework is done or if they have practiced the piano.

But then, yesterday, I happened to rustle a chip bag when I was cleaning up the kitchen counter, and suddenly children came running from all areas of the house.  And I mean running, because they know from experience that if a treat is being served, they need to get theirs quickly, or there may not be any left for them.

Anyway, they were disappointed because I wasn’t serving up a snack. But while I had their attention, I quickly fired off a bunch of questions before they disappeared and I got all the answers I needed!

It was amazing.  So now I know that the next time I need one of them for something, I am simply going to rustle a treat package again.  No more yelling for me!

I would never have guessed that a bag of Doritos could be capable of curing my kids hearing problems. Who knew it could be so simple?
