Two good deeds in one day! (No Comments)

What?  I know, I know…I am unbelievable, right?  Not just one good deed but TWO!  Wow!  Sometimes I amaze even myself!

.

So I was leaving Walmart  with my 10 year old’s new long board that he just had to have (his own money) and I noticed a very old, stiff looking man going up the steps of  special mobility bus with a bag of groceries.  I slowed down to watch him-I love old people..and babies… anyway, down he shuffled to the ground to pick up a bag out of his cart and back up into the bus…I went to his cart, pulled out his bag and held it out to him-partly expecting him to yell at me and tell me ‘he can damn well do it himself he’s not dead yet!’ But he didn’t.. He smiled a big semi-rotten, gap toothed smiled and thanked me..then asked what about his buggy.  I put his buggy away for him…all the while schlepping the damn long board under my arm…

.

And you know what the bus driver was doing?  NOTHING.  How can you drive a mobility bus and not help the people trying to get on and off?  I wanted to ask him if his arms and legs were broken but then decided not to upset myself and headed off to buy groceries.

.

After Walmart, the groceries, dinner and Jeremy’s soccer game, I went into the yard to look at our pool.  A pool we have had a hard time figuring out since we are new to pools…Immediately I spotted a big bumble bee floating in the water.  I scooped it out with my hands onto the deck.  It was not moving.  I’m not a doctor but I took that as a very bad sign…Luckily I took a CPR course at tecaher’s college last year so I put my face down to Mr. Bumble and blew on him over and over again…Nothing happened. So I blew some more.  And guess what?  He twitched!

.

I called to my family (hoping the neighbours wouldn’t hear) and they came running outside. The kids were excited and helped me blow on the bee but hubby shook his head at his very weird wife and went back to washing dishes.  Even my low rise jeans and the fact I was bending over didn’t make him stay..now THAT is far more strange than me giving first aid to an insect, but whatever!

.

Mr. Bumble twitched an antennae, then a leg.  After about fifteen minutes he moved to grip the water toy I had placed him on.  OHHH it was exciting, let me tell you!  We moved him to the front garden and he was holding onto a petunia when I called to my kids get back inside the house…

.

Think I’m weird?  You should read my post about carrying around a dead praying mantis in my purse…but remember, I did help a senior citizen today.  And I helped the declining bee population too.  Man, when I am good- I AM GOOD!
